At Anala we simply love this trek!! If you have seen the movie ‘Lord of the Rings’ and appreciated the landscape and always wanted to be there, then this is your opportunity. You don’t need to spend pot loads and go all the way to New Zealand, the trek to Har-ki-Dun will provide you with all the sights you are looking for and more! There are endless lush green meadows, wild alpine flower gardens, craggy mountains, towering snow-capped peaks, glaciers and gushing streams & waterfalls that seem to spring from nowhere. To top it all, this valley has a very interesting, unique, old and time tested culture very different to any other mountain or plains region. Our guides ensure that we get a very up close experience of this culture as this is one of the highlights of this trek.
This trail is situated in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park in Garhwal Himalayas. We drive from Dehradun to a beautiful village called Sankri where we spend the first night and from here a short 40 min drive the next day gets us to Taluka, a small market place which is our starting point. From here we trek up to a place called Gangaad, walking through beautiful forests and interesting villages. We meet local people and get to appreciate the local architecture and way of life as we move up the trail. From Gangaad we hike up to Har-ki-Dun base camp the next day and land ourselves in a complete paradise. Camping on the meadows here is sheer pleasure. We do a day’s excursion from here to Jaundhar glacier reaching up to a height of around 4300m to get fantastically close to the base of Swargarohini peaks. High altitude terrain here is quite interesting. For people who love to see flowers, there is a small trek possible on the day when we are at Har-ki-Dun to a place called Haata. The meadows here are almost fully carpeted with alpine flowers and make a very pleasing sight. Contrary to the popular belief it’s not a very easy trek and has long walks on almost all days and is suitable for seasoned trekkers as well as fit beginners. In the last stage of the trek we walk back to Gangaad and then to Taluka to finish what is surely going to be a memorable trek.

Hello!
My name is Himani Kubadia. I had attended the Har Ki Dun trek on 29th September to 5th October. It was a wonderful trek. It’s food, services and other arrangements were awesome. It’s a valley of God and yes I can say that it’s true! Actually I was alone from Ahmedabad. I hadn’t my own group but at Dehradun I met the other trekkers of my group we were six and a guide, name Pawan Rawat. In my group there were two ladies including me and four boys we all were from different cities and different culture. But I didn’t felt that I’m around unknown people so we six started our journey towards Har Ki Dun. And the route was like Sankri-Taluka-Osla-Har Ki Dun base camp- Har Ki Dun. And the return rout was also the same. We faced heavy rain at the first day of trek to Osla and the last day was the same while we were returning from Osla. But we were lucky that we got clear weather at Har Ki Dun. We had seen every season their like rain, cold and snow on the top. It was like WOW! It was such a wonderful trip Anala had kept safety of the trekkers on the top and the other thing like food, stay was awesome so they haven’t done any compromise in giving such a qualitative service and trip. But at one point I’m little bit disappointed that was guide that Pawan Rawat. He was such a nice guy and was guiding us. He had given us a full details of trek on the first day and told some stories and his experience about Har Ki Dun trek. But I felt that he is just doing his duty to be a safeguard of trekkers and to guide trekkers to reach Har Ki Dun trek nothing more than that. I felt that he was very straight and had lacked of communication because there was one lady with me and from Har Ki Dun base camp to Har Ki Dun she got tired and lost her confidence and strength both so she told to Pawan that she can’t do it anymore and she was just 20 mins far from Har Ki Dun so Pawan said OK! I mean he even tried to motivate her or not tried to inform her that there is only 20mins way you can do it! He just told OK YOU CAN GO BACK IF YOU WANT TO! Ohh come on yarr! everyone needs two motivational words to do anything it helps a lot but he didn’t. And other company’s guide had motivated her and gave encouragement to reach and she did it. So he has a lack of communication skill nothing else he didn’t speak or tried to motivate/encourage her. So this bothered me at some point. I think he was new that’s why we faced this and everyone has felt this thing. But overall it was a wonderful trip for me. Thank you very much Anala Outdoors and team for giving such a qualitative trip. And a big thanks to Jigna Pandya (from Anala team) for suggesting me such a wonderful place for trekking.
Thank you.
Himani Kubadia.

These buses depart from Delhi ISBT every 30 mins. or so and take about 7 hrs to cover the distance. The same is also applicable on the return journey. A private vehicle could also be arranged for if you require the same.
Weather Condition
This snow trek is organized between Dec & mid-March when the region has had good snowfall. Contrary to the popular belief winters is a good time to be in the mountains if one is equipped properly. Most locals inhabiting higher reaches of the mountains don’t mind the problems associated with snowfall and seem to have a good time during these months. Also there are lots of local festivals in these months. In these months weather is generally clear most of the days. Day time is normally pleasantly warm with one getting to enjoy sitting out in the sun. Temperature would be around 12-17 °C. Evenings are quite cold and one would need to be inside a tent/room or sitting outside next to fire with proper winter clothes. The evening temperatures will be around – 3 to 5 °C. Nights can be very cold with temperatures in the range of – 8 to 0 °C.
Please keep in mind that the above information is not exact and does not account for sudden changes. Whatever the temperatures and conditions, rest assured we will be prepared to handle it with ease as we use equipment of very high specifications.
